to the Maryland South Delaware District of Optimist International Optimist’s
web site.
Even though our web site is in the process of being significantly upgraded we are pleased you took this opportunity to find out more about us.
Our Optimist District encompasses the entire state of Maryland and that portion of Delaware south of the St. Georges Canal. Within these boundaries we currently have 34 active adult and three Junior Optimist Clubs. Some of our clubs have been serving their communities for over 60 years and our youngest club for over two years.
We are all volunteers dedicated to providing youth programs within our local communities. I estimate this year we will provide programs for approximately 41,850 young people in addition to the services we provide to our communities’ adult populations and charitable programs.
The programs we provide range from supporting and in some cases sponsoring youth sports, music, arts, respect of law and government, scholarship contests (essay and oratorical), academic achievement, charitable activities and leadership development. Do you have an idea for a program or service you would like to see in your community? If so contact us!
To learn more about us and how we help our youth just contact any Optimist Club member in your community! If your community does not have an active club, just use the contact list, listed elsewhere on this site, and we will be glad to answer your questions and even start a club in your area.

The 7th District Optimist Club, Bushwood will be holding their monthly Turkey Shoots on Sunday, February 19th and March 18th at the Optimist Clubhouse located in Avenue, Maryland in St. Mary's County, beginning at 12:00 noon. This event is open to the public. We also have a YOUTH SHOT at each Turkey Shoot. They are learning the safety of guns and
they are helped to learn how to shoot. Get your gun and bring your
friends. Food & Beverage is available for purchase including those
delicious scalded Oysters. GREAT, prizes are available at all of the
