Maryland South Delaware District of Optimist International

Mission Statement

To promote Optimism as a way of life in our District through our programs for our youth, our community service activities and the dedication, diversity and enthusiam of our members.

Vision Statement

The MDSD District of Optimist International, Inc. will be recognized as the premier volunteer organization in our area that is Driven to bring out the best all children with a positive outlook for the future.

Purposes

A.  The purposes of the Maryland South Delaware District shall be:         

1.       To function as an administrative division of Optimist International in the attainment of the purposes set forth in the Constitution of Optimist International and to make effective in the district the policies, programs and purposes of Optimist International; and

2.       To give direction to and stimulate the leadership, administration and growth of member clubs and to encourage their participation in the purposes, programs and policies of Optimist International to the benefit of the communities in the district.

B.      The purposes of Optimist International

  1. To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life, utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed
  2. To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs
  3. To inspire respect for law
  4. To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people
  5. To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well being of humankind, community life and the world.
