Is summer here?
During my travels around the District I am continually impressed with the enthusiasm and optimistism shown by all of our clubs. Wow! What a shot of enthusiasm you all provide! It is so refreshing to visit with you because you help me to remain optimistic about our future!
Growth in our district is steadily improving: membership in the district has grown from our end of 2008 drops and we are now plus 15 members; the New Club Building Committee is continuing to work with a number of potential new clubs and we have chartered a new club, Tall Timbers-2nd District. For all of us it is time to bring our membership and new club building efforts to fruition. After all, the more members and clubs we have the more kids we can help! I know you are working hard to bring in new members and the kids appreciate all of your hard work. Keep it up!
By now all of the clubs have elected their
leaders for our next Optimist Year, 2009-2010. Now is the time to
revisit/evaluate your community’s youth and support programs, conduct
training for your new leaders and to prepare to turn over the leadership to
the new team. I strongly encourage all of you to visit the OI web site to
look over and use the informational and training materials available to each
of you.
We all need to conduct a refresher course every once in awhile.
Do not forget the OI Convention in July it is an
excellent opportunity to meet other optimists, to gain new ideas and to
renew your own enthusiasm! Our Maryland South Delaware convention is in
We are entering the ninth month of our optimist year of “Give Me Five for The Kids” and working hard to “Bring Out the Best in Kids!” You have all been busy and the young people of your communities have benefited from your efforts. Let’s keep up the pace and really move into the remainder of the summer with enthusiasm and spirit.

April 3rd: Added Essay Winners and changed to format of the page. Also, ADDED THE DISTRICT DIRECTORY AND THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE DOCUMENTS, BUT THEY ARE PASSWORD PROTECTED. Contact your club president or a district officer for the password.
March 3rd: Added 3rd Quarter Conference Registration and cleaned up some old stuff.
