Welcome to the Maryland South Delaware Optimist District web site. We are very happy that you took the time to find out more about how you can make a difference in the life of a child. The MDSD District geographically covers the entire state of Maryland and the southern end of Delaware south of the St Georges Canal.

Our District is made up of 34 Adult Clubs and 3 Junior Optimist Clubs with a total membership of just over 1300 volunteers who serve the youth of our communities. The members of our Optimist Clubs are dedicated to providing youth programs to their local communities in order to "Bring Out the Best in Kids ". This year our Optimist Clubs will provide a variety of programs to over 45,000 young people in addition to other services we provide to our communities and charitable programs.

If you like what you see and you think you would like to help make a difference in the life of a child, just contact any Optimist Club member in your community. You can locate the closest club by using the "find- a- club" button and "contact us" feature on this site. We will be glad to answer your questions or even help start a club in your community.

About MdSd-33 Optimists

We are all volunteers dedicated to providing youth programs within our local communities. I estimate this year we will provide programs for approximately 41,850 young people in addition to the services we provide to our communities’ adult populations and charitable programs.

The programs we provide range from supporting and in some cases sponsoring youth sports, music, arts, respect of law and government, scholarship contests (essay and oratorical), academic achievement, charitable activities and leadership development. Do you have an idea for a program or service you would like to see in your community? If so contact us!

To learn more about us and how we help our youth just contact any Optimist Club member in your community! If your community does not have an active club, just use the contact list, listed elsewhere on this site, and we will be glad to answer your questions and even start a club in your area.
